Here are the questions that were already asked on the website.

Q: What do you do all day, swing in a hammock and drink margaritas?

A: OK, who knows the answer? I am not seeing enough hands…that’s better. Everyone should know this answer! For an example, look at Casey’s Blog in November of 2007. It talks about the deck that we were redoing. At one point, we were all so burned out. We are not on vacation; we just live a different way, with different pros and cons. When it’s good, it’s great, but when it’s bad…it’s bad.

Q: What about pirates? What about storms?!?!?!

A: With the technology that exists today, storms are not a very big problem. We can bring up a spot forecast that can give us conditions anywhere in the world, and we can receive it anywhere in the world. Pirates are not a very big problem either. The only confirmed reports of piracy are mostly on the Caribbean side of Colombia, off the coast of Ethiopia, and in the Gulf of Aden. The Red Sea is also a dangerous area. We sailors keep each other informed via ham radio, regarding everything from shallow harbor entrances to price gouging at fuel docks.

Q: How long are you out before you are back in a marina?

A: Although marinas are very nice and are everywhere, they kind of break the bank. We really like being anchored in isolated coves where there are no vacationing gringos. Locals and other sailors are our favorite neighbors. We like it best when we can spend about three weeks between stops in towns with grocery stores.

Q: How the heck do you manage to travel? Did you hit the lottery or what?!

A: We have the same question: How can you afford to live in a house? . With car payments, house payments, insurance on everything, utilities, gasoline, probably even Starbucks and fast food.

Being on the boat is VERY inexpensive, as long as you live like you’re on a long camping trip instead of like you’re on vacation. We use wind instead of gasoline, catch fish, grow sprouts, almost never eat out, and anchor out instead of staying in marinas.
